What Our Students Say

Real stories from students who achieved their dream of studying abroad with our guidance and support.

“ScholarshipNepal helped me find and apply for the MEXT Research Scholarship. I was a Bachelors graduate from Tribhuvan University with an average GPA, but their counselors helped me write a strong research proposal in environmental engineering. I passed the Embassy exams and interview, and now I am a fully funded research student at Kyoto University. Tuition, living allowance of 143,000 yen per month, and flights — all covered. I could never have afforded to study abroad without this scholarship.”

“I applied for Chevening through ScholarshipNepal's guidance and got selected. The application essays were the hardest part — you need to demonstrate leadership and a clear career plan. The counselors reviewed my essays multiple times and helped me prepare for the interview. Now I am doing my Masters in Public Policy at the University of Edinburgh, fully funded. The living allowance covers London-rate expenses and I received a travel grant to visit different parts of the UK. Chevening has been life-changing.”

“I found out about GKS through ScholarshipNepal's website. I had just completed my Bachelors in Computer Science from Kathmandu University with 82% marks. The team helped me with my study plan and personal statement. I was selected for the GKS Graduate program at Korea University. The scholarship covers everything — tuition, 900,000 won monthly stipend, airfare, and I got a full year of Korean language training before starting my Masters. Seoul is an incredible city and the education quality is world-class.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Am I eligible for scholarships?
Most government scholarships like MEXT, GKS, Australia Awards, and Chevening require you to be a Nepali citizen with a completed degree (Bachelors for Masters-level scholarships, +2 for undergraduate scholarships). GPA requirements vary: MEXT requires a minimum of 2.3/3.0, GKS requires 80% or above, and Chevening requires a 2:1 equivalent. Age limits also apply — MEXT Research is under 35, GKS Undergraduate is under 25. If you have completed +2 or above with decent grades, there is likely a scholarship you are eligible for. Use our free matching service to find out.
When do scholarship deadlines fall?
Scholarship deadlines vary by program. MEXT (Japan): Application opens in April at the Japanese Embassy in Kathmandu, with exams in May-June. GKS (South Korea): February-March each year. Australia Awards: April-May for study starting the following January. Chevening (UK): Applications open in September and close in early November. Erasmus+: Varies by program, typically October-January. University merit scholarships usually align with university admission deadlines. We recommend starting preparation 6-12 months before the deadline. Sign up for our scholarship alerts to never miss a deadline.
Do I need IELTS for scholarships?
It depends on the scholarship and the language of instruction. MEXT (Japan) does not require IELTS for Japanese-taught programs, but English-taught programs may need it. GKS (South Korea) does not strictly require IELTS but having a good score strengthens your application. Australia Awards requires IELTS 6.5 with no band below 6.0. Chevening requires IELTS 6.5 with no band below 5.5 (you can submit scores later in the process). Erasmus+ typically requires IELTS 6.0-6.5. For most fully funded scholarships, IELTS 6.0-6.5 is sufficient. Some programs accept TOEFL or PTE as alternatives.
Can I apply to multiple scholarships at the same time?
Yes, and we strongly recommend it. Fully funded scholarships are highly competitive, so applying to multiple programs increases your chances significantly. You can apply to MEXT, GKS, Australia Awards, Chevening, and Erasmus+ simultaneously as they have different timelines and processes. However, some scholarships like MEXT Embassy recommendation only allow you to apply through one route (Embassy or University, not both). If you are offered multiple scholarships, you will need to choose one. Our counselors help you create a scholarship application calendar to manage multiple applications efficiently.
Is the counseling really free?
Yes, our scholarship counseling and matching service is completely free. We help you identify scholarships that match your profile, review your eligibility, and provide guidance on the application process at no cost. We believe every Nepali student deserves access to scholarship information regardless of their financial situation. For students who want intensive application support — including essay reviews, research proposal drafting, mock interviews, and document preparation — we offer premium packages at affordable rates. But the initial counseling and scholarship matching is always free.
