MEXT Scholarship — Japan

The MEXT (Monbukagakusho) Scholarship is the Japanese Government's flagship scholarship program for international students. It is one of the most comprehensive scholarships in the world, covering full tuition, a generous monthly living allowance, and round-trip airfare. Nepal is one of the top recipient countries, with 20-30 students selected annually through the Embassy recommendation route. The scholarship is available for undergraduate, research (Masters/PhD), teacher training, and Japanese studies categories.

GKS/KGSP Scholarship — South Korea

The Korean Government Scholarship Program (GKS, formerly KGSP) is South Korea's fully funded scholarship for international students from partner countries, including Nepal. It covers all expenses: tuition, monthly living allowance, airfare, medical insurance, and includes one full year of Korean language training before your degree program begins. Nepal is allocated 10-15 scholarship slots annually across undergraduate and graduate levels.

Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters (EMJM) are prestigious masters programmes funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ programme. These programmes are offered by a consortium of at least 3 universities in different countries, meaning you study in 2-3 European countries during your degree. For Nepali students (classified as Partner Country students), Erasmus Mundus offers generous scholarships covering tuition, living expenses, travel, and insurance. Hundreds of EMJM programmes are available across all academic fields.
